Incidence density and factors associated with peripheral neuropathy among women with breast cancer during taxane-based chemotherapy

This work aimed to determine the incidence density of taxane-induced peripheral neuropathy (TIPN) and its risk factors among women with breast cancer. One hundred and forty-one women with breast cancer participated in this cohort study. TIPN symptoms were evaluated with the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer CIPN specific self-report questionnaire (EORTC QOL-CIPN20) at five-time points throughout chemotherapy treatment. Ce travail visait à déterminer la densité d'incidence de la neuropathie périphérique induite par le taxane (NIPT) et ses facteurs de risque chez les femmes atteintes d'un cancer du sein. Cent quarante et une femmes atteintes d'un cancer du sein ont participé à cette étude de cohorte. Les symptômes du TIPN ont été évalués avec le questionnaire d'auto-évaluation spécifique au CIPN de l'Organisation européenne pour la recherche et le traitement du cancer (EORTC QOL-CIPN20) à cinq reprises tout au long du traitement de chimiothérapie. Sur trois mois, 125 (89 %) et 59 (44,03 %) femmes atteintes d'un cancer du sein ont été identifiées avec une neuropathie sensorielle et motrice, respectivement.
