Gastric cancer is a world health problem and depicts the fourth leading mortality cause from malignancy in Mexico. Causation of gastric cancer is not only due to the combined effects of environmental factors and genetic variants. Recent molecular studies have transgressed a number of genes involved in gastric carcinogenesis. The aim of this review is to understand the recent basics of gene expression in the development of the process of gastric carcinogenesis. Genetic variants, polymorphisms, desoxyribonucleic acid methylation, and genes involved in mediating inflammation have been associated with the development of gastric carcinogenesis. Recently, these genes (interleukin 10, Il-17, mucin 1, β-catenin, CDX1, SMAD4, SERPINE1, hypoxia-inducible factor 1 subunit alpha, GSK3β, CDH17, matrix metalloproteinase 7, RUNX3, RASSF1A, TFF1, HAI-2, and COX-2) have been studied in association with oncogenic activation or inactivation of tumor suppressor genes. All these mechanisms have been investigated to elucidate the process of gastric carcinogenesis, as well as their potential use as biomarkers and/or molecular targets to treatment of disease.

Le cancer gastrique est un problème de santé mondial et représente la quatrième cause de mortalité par malignité au Mexique. La cause du cancer gastrique n'est pas seulement due aux effets combinés de facteurs environnementaux et de variantes génétiques. Des études moléculaires récentes ont transgressé un certain nombre de gènes impliqués dans la carcinogenèse gastrique. L'objectif de cette revue est de comprendre les bases récentes de l'expression génique dans le développement du processus de carcinogenèse gastrique. Les variants génétiques, les polymorphismes, la méthylation de l'acide désoxyribonucléique et les gènes impliqués dans la médiation de l'inflammation ont été associés au développement de la carcinogenèse gastrique. Récemment, ces gènes (interleukine 10, Il-17, mucine 1, β-caténine, CDX1, SMAD4, SERPINE1, sous-unité alpha du facteur 1 inductible par l'hypoxie, GSK3β, CDH17, métalloprotéinase matricielle 7, RUNX3, RASSF1A, TFF1, HAI-2 et COX-2) ont été étudiés en association avec l'activation ou l'inactivation oncogène des gènes suppresseurs de tumeur. La causa del cáncer gástrico no se debe solo a los efectos combinados de factores ambientales y variantes genéticas. Estudios moleculares recientes han transgredido una serie de genes implicados en la carcinogénesis gástrica. El objetivo de esta revisión es comprender los conceptos básicos recientes de la expresión génica en el desarrollo del proceso de carcinogénesis gástrica. Las variantes genéticas, los polimorfismos, la metilación del ácido desoxirribonucleico y los genes implicados en la mediación de la inflamación se han asociado con el desarrollo de la carcinogénesis gástrica. Recientemente, estos genes (interleucina 10, Il-17, mucina 1, β-catenina, CDX1, SMAD4, SERPINE1, subunidad alfa del factor 1 inducible por hipoxia, GSK3β, CDH17, metaloproteinasa de matriz 7, RUNX3, RASSF1A, TFF1, HAI-2 y COX-2) se han estudiado en asociación con la activación o inactivación oncogénica de genes supresores de tumores.
