Examining the Prediction of COVID-19 Contact-Tracing App Adoption Using an Integrated Model and Hybrid Approach Analysis

COVID-19 contact-tracing applications (CTAs) offer enormous potential to mitigate the surge of positive coronavirus cases, thus helping stakeholders to monitor high-risk areas. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is among the countries that have developed a CTA known as the Tawakkalna application, to manage the spread of COVID-19. Thus, this study aimed to examine and predict the factors affecting the adoption of Tawakkalna CTA. An integrated model which comprises the technology acceptance model (TAM), privacy calculus theory (PCT), and task-technology fit (TTF) model was hypothesized. The model is used to understand better behavioral intention toward using the Tawakkalna mobile CTA. This study performed structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis as well as artificial neural network (ANN) analysis to validate the model, using survey data from 309 users of CTAs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The findings revealed that perceived ease of use and usefulness has positively and significantly impacted the behavioral intention of Tawakkalna mobile CTA. Similarly, task features and mobility positively and significantly influence task-technology fit, and significantly affect the behavioral intention of the CTA. However, the privacy risk, social concerns, and perceived benefits of social interaction are not significant factors. The findings provide adequate knowledge of the relative impact of key predictors of the behavioral intention of the Tawakkalna contact-tracing app.

Le Royaume d'Arabie Saoudite (KSA) fait partie des pays qui ont développé un CTA connu sous le nom d'application Tawakkalna, pour gérer la propagation de la COVID-19. Ainsi, cette étude visait à examiner et à prédire les facteurs affectant l'adoption du Tawakkalna CTA. Un modèle intégré comprenant le modèle d'acceptation de la technologie (TAM), la théorie du calcul de la confidentialité (PCT) et le modèle d'ajustement de la technologie des tâches (TTF) a été émis. Le modèle est utilisé pour comprendre une meilleure intention comportementale envers l'utilisation du CTA mobile Tawakkalna. Cette étude a effectué une analyse de modélisation d'équation structurelle (SEM) ainsi qu'une analyse de réseau neuronal artificiel (ANN) pour valider le modèle, en utilisant les données d'enquête de 309 utilisateurs de CTA au Royaume d'Arabie saoudite. El Reino de Arabia Saudita (KSA) se encuentra entre los países que han desarrollado un CTA conocido como la aplicación Tawakkalna, para gestionar la propagación del COVID-19. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo examinar y predecir los factores que afectan la adopción de Tawakkalna CTA. Se planteó la hipótesis de un modelo integrado que comprende el modelo de aceptación de tecnología (TAM), la teoría del cálculo de privacidad (PCT) y el modelo de ajuste de tecnología de tareas (TTF). El modelo se utiliza para comprender mejor la intención de comportamiento hacia el uso del CTA móvil de Tawakkalna. Este estudio realizó un análisis de modelado de ecuaciones estructurales (SEM), así como un análisis de red neuronal artificial (ANN) para validar el modelo, utilizando datos de encuestas de 309 usuarios de CTA en el Reino de Arabia Saudita.
