Prognostic Role of Tumor Microenvironment in DLBCL and Relation to Patients' Clinical Outcome: A Clinical and Immunohistochemical Study

Description

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma is the most common type of lymphoma in Egypt with an unfavorable prognosis. The tumor microenvironment is rich in immune response either T cells or macrophages. The current study is aimed at testing CD4, CD8, CD68, and MMP9 immunohistochemistry of DLBCL activities with the prognosis of the tumor. The results showed no positive relation between T cell and macrophage reaction to the tumor prognosis suggesting that this reaction is part of the tumor process and not a defense mechanism from the surrounding stroma.

Le lymphome diffus à grandes cellules B est le type de lymphome le plus courant en Égypte avec un pronostic défavorable. Le microenvironnement tumoral est riche en réponse immunitaire soit des lymphocytes T soit des macrophages. La présente étude vise à tester l'immunohistochimie CD4, CD8, CD68 et MMP9 des activités du LDGCB avec le pronostic de la tumeur. Les résultats n'ont montré aucune relation positive entre la réaction des lymphocytes T et des macrophages au pronostic tumoral, ce qui suggère que cette réaction fait partie du processus tumoral et non d'un mécanisme de défense du stroma environnant.

El linfoma difuso de células B grandes es el tipo de linfoma más común en Egipto con un pronóstico desfavorable. El microambiente tumoral es rico en respuesta inmunitaria, ya sean células T o macrófagos. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo probar la inmunohistoquímica de CD4, CD8, CD68 y MMP9 de las actividades de DLBCL con el pronóstico del tumor. Los resultados no mostraron una relación positiva entre la reacción de las células T y los macrófagos con el pronóstico del tumor, lo que sugiere que esta reacción es parte del proceso tumoral y no un mecanismo de defensa del estroma circundante.
