- 1. Ibero American University
- 2. Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México
Description
The paper reviews the development of a line of research on depression in women. It began with the study of gender stereotypes and the mental health of working women. These investigations were the bases for the design of an educational material on female depression and, later on, a psycho-educational intervention for depressed women was evaluated on a sample of 135 women that attended health services. A comparative design between a group modality and a minimum orientation with pre-, post and follow-up assessments show that both interventions are effective in reducing depressive symptoms; in addition, participants show great satisfaction with the help provided.

Translated Description (English)
