Abstract This study investigates the recurring floods within the Nekor Basin of NE Morocco, a phenomenon dating back to 1944. A multitude of factors has contributed to these recurrent floods, which profoundly affect the northern region encompassing the Nekor Plain. The research primarily investigates the influence of specific weather conditions on the surge of water levels in "Wadi Nekor" and the ensuing consequences when the valley veers from its primary course. The research findings strongly indicate that a significant portion of these flood events can be attributed to "Cut-Off Low" (COL) and atmospheric rivers (ARs), frequently aligning with mean sea level pressure (MSLP) systems located over, or in proximity to, the Moroccan region. Résumé Cette étude étudie les inondations récurrentes dans le bassin du Nekor au NE Maroc, un phénomène remontant à 1944. Une multitude de facteurs ont contribué à ces inondations récurrentes, qui affectent profondément la région nord englobant la plaine de Nekor. La recherche étudie principalement l'influence de conditions météorologiques spécifiques sur la montée des niveaux d'eau dans « Wadi Nekor » et les conséquences qui en découlent lorsque la vallée dévie de son cours primaire. Les résultats de la recherche indiquent fortement qu'une partie importante de ces inondations peut être attribuée aux rivières « Cut-Off Low » (COL) et atmosphériques (AR), s'alignant fréquemment sur les systèmes de pression moyenne au niveau de la mer (MSLP) situés au-dessus ou à proximité de la région marocaine. Cette étude utilise une méthodologie systématique de classification et d'arrangement pour les niveaux atmosphériques supérieurs et inférieurs dans l'analyse des cas pertinents.

La investigación investiga principalmente la influencia de las condiciones climáticas específicas en el aumento de los niveles de agua en "Wadi Nekor" y las consecuencias resultantes cuando el valle se desvía de su curso primario. Los hallazgos de la investigación indican claramente que una parte significativa de estos eventos de inundación se puede atribuir a los ríos atmosféricos (RA) y de "corte bajo" (COL), que con frecuencia se alinean con los sistemas de presión media del nivel del mar (MSLP) ubicados sobre la región marroquí o cerca de ella.
