The study of tryptophol containing emulgel on fungal reduction and skin irritation

Description

Tryptophol (TOH), a fungal quorum-sensing molecule, that possesses anti-fungal activities for controlling the growth of human pathogenic fungi. In the present study, we developed TOH-containing emulgel formulations and examined the antifungal activities and potential use as topical treatments on the skin. The results showed that TOH-containing emulgel at 1000 μM has excellent physical characteristics as homogenous, stability, and inhibits the growth of 30 species of human pathogenic fungi in vitro. TOH-containing emulgel did not cause skin irritation in mouse model of irritation and in healthy human volunteers. Moreover, an increase in skin hydration and a decrease in trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) were observed after TOH-containing emulgel treatment on human skin. Our findings indicated that TOH-containing emulgel can be utilize as an antifungal agent for topical treatment against fungal infections on the skin.

Tryptophol (TOH), une molécule fongique détectant le quorum, qui possède des activités antifongiques pour contrôler la croissance des champignons pathogènes humains. Dans la présente étude, nous avons développé des formulations d'émulgel contenant du toh et examiné les activités antifongiques et leur utilisation potentielle comme traitements topiques sur la peau. Les résultats ont montré que l'émulgel contenant du toh à 1000 μM a d'excellentes caractéristiques physiques en tant qu'homogène, stabilité et inhibe la croissance de 30 espèces de champignons pathogènes humains in vitro. L'émulgel contenant du toh n'a pas provoqué d'irritation cutanée chez le modèle d'irritation de la souris et chez des volontaires humains en bonne santé. De plus, une augmentation de l'hydratation de la peau et une diminution de la perte en eau transépidermique (TEWL) ont été observées après un traitement à l'émulgel contenant du toh sur la peau humaine. Nos résultats ont indiqué que l'émulgel contenant du toh peut être utilisé comme agent antifongique pour le traitement topique contre les infections fongiques de la peau.

Triptofol (TOH), una molécula fúngica sensible al quórum, que posee actividades antifúngicas para controlar el crecimiento de hongos patógenos humanos. En el presente estudio, desarrollamos formulaciones de emulgel que contienen Toh y examinamos las actividades antifúngicas y el uso potencial como tratamientos tópicos en la piel. Los resultados mostraron que el emulgel que contiene Toh a 1000 μM tiene excelentes características físicas como homogéneo, estabilidad e inhibe el crecimiento de 30 especies de hongos patógenos humanos in vitro. El emulgel que contiene Toh no causó irritación de la piel en el modelo de irritación de ratón y en voluntarios humanos sanos. Además, se observó un aumento en la hidratación de la piel y una disminución en la pérdida de agua transepidérmica (TEWL) después del tratamiento con emulgel que contiene Toh en la piel humana.
