Aim: Estimation of some biochemical constituents in follicular fluid of non-descript cows of Assam.Materials and Methods: Twenty five pairs of ovaries were collected from local slaughter house and the follicular fluid was aspirated from small (2-4 mm), medium (4-6 mm) and large (6-9 mm) follicles.Aspirated fluid samples were centrifuged at 4000 rpm for 20 min in a refrigerated centrifuge to remove granulosa cells and other cell debris.Supernatant was used for estimation of glucose, total protein, cholesterol, acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase.Data generated in the study were analyzed statiscally by SPSS (version 16.0).SPSS South Asia Pvt.Limited, Kacharakanahalli, Bangalore, 560043).Results: A non significant difference was recorded in case of total protein and cholesterol of follicular fluid of small, medium and large sized follicles of cow.However, the glucose level significantly (p<0.01)increased with the increase of follicular size where as the activity of acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase significantly (p<0.01)decreased with increase of size. Conclusion:Certain biochemical constituents and enzyme activities of follicular fluid changes with the growth of follicles in non-descript cows of Assam.The glucose concentration increased with the growth of the follicles while acid phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase levels had an inverse relation with the size of the ovarian follicles.

But : Estimation de certains constituants biochimiques dans le liquide folliculaire de vaches non décrites de l'Assam. Matériaux et méthodes : Vingt-cinq paires d'ovaires ont été prélevées dans un abattoir local et le liquide folliculaire a été aspiré à partir de petits (2-4 mm), moyens (4-6 mm) et grands (6-9 mm) follicules. Des échantillons de liquide aspiré ont été centrifugés à 4000 tr/min pendant 20 min dans une centrifugeuse réfrigérée pour éliminer les cellules granulosa et autres débris cellulaires. Le surnageant a été utilisé pour l'estimation du glucose, des protéines totales, du cholestérol, de la phosphatase acide et de la phosphatase alcaline. Les données générées dans l'étude ont été analysées statistiquement par SPSS (version 16.0) .SPSS South Asia Pvt.Limited, Kacharakanahalli, Bangalore, 560043).Résultats : Une différence non significative a été enregistrée en cas de protéines totales et de cholestérol du liquide folliculaire de petits, moyens et grands follicules de vache. Objetivo: Estimación de algunos constituyentes bioquímicos en el líquido folicular de vacas no descritas de Assam.Materiales y métodos: Se recogieron veinticinco pares de ovarios del matadero local y se aspiró el líquido folicular de folículos pequeños (2-4 mm), medianos (4-6 mm) y grandes (6-9 mm) .Las muestras de líquido aspirado se centrifugaron a 4000 rpm durante 20 min en una centrífuga refrigerada para eliminar las células de la granulosa y otros restos celulares. Se utilizó sobrenadante para la estimación de glucosa, proteína total, colesterol, fosfatasa ácida y fosfatasa alcalina. Los datos generados en el estudio se analizaron estadísticamente mediante SPSS (versión 16.0) .SPSS South Asia Pvt.Limited, Kacharakanahalli, Bangalore, 560043).Resultados: Se registró una diferencia no significativa en el caso de proteína total y colesterol del líquido folicular de folículos de tamaño pequeño, mediano y grande de vaca.
