When traveling, a very common issue is to ask for the help of a stranger to take a photo on a touristic spot. Indeed, often the results of this short collaboration are not as previously imagined. In this paper, we introduce the concept of instant rephotography, a technique based on a simple and intuitive user interface, and in an efficient and low cost algorithm that finds the matching between two images. The user interface guides the photographer to position the camera in the right place that was once imagined by the camera owner, automatically taking the new photo. To correctly choose the new photo, we propose an algorithm based on ORB (Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF) feature points acquired from the reference and current photos, and on inertial sensors embedded in the photo device, a smartphone. To validate the concepts introduced, we implemented an Android App called Smart-Tourist Camera, conceived to help tourists to take good pictures during travels. Three different user studies involving 124 volunteers were conducted and results have shown that the photographs taken with the application are perceived as better than otherwise, and that users would use the App during their travels.

En effet, souvent les résultats de cette courte collaboration ne sont pas comme on l'avait imaginé auparavant. Dans cet article, nous introduisons le concept de rephotographie instantanée, une technique basée sur une interface utilisateur simple et intuitive, et dans un algorithme efficace et peu coûteux qui trouve la correspondance entre deux images. L'interface utilisateur guide le photographe pour positionner l'appareil photo au bon endroit qui a été imaginé par le propriétaire de l'appareil photo, en prenant automatiquement la nouvelle photo. Pour bien choisir la nouvelle photo, nous proposons un algorithme basé sur des points caractéristiques ORB (Oriented FAST and Rotated BRIEF) acquis à partir des photos de référence et actuelles, et sur des capteurs inertiels embarqués dans l'appareil photo, un smartphone. Cuando viajas, un problema muy común es pedir la ayuda de un extraño para tomar una foto en un lugar turístico. En este artículo, presentamos el concepto de refotografía instantánea, una técnica basada en una interfaz de usuario simple e intuitiva, y en un algoritmo eficiente y de bajo costo que encuentra la coincidencia entre dos imágenes. La interfaz de usuario guía al fotógrafo para colocar la cámara en el lugar correcto que una vez fue imaginado por el propietario de la cámara, tomando automáticamente la nueva foto.
